What Version of San Andreas Do I Have?, the answers!

There are two Versions of San Andreas.
The original, (very easy to mod)
and the "second edition"

the second edition is nearly unmoddable. HOWEVER I have made it possible to convert your game to a "original" san andreas. more details can be found at my tut here

anyway, an easy way to tell if you have the second edition is to check your disc or cover. it'll say second edition on it

gta3.img stock file size = 651 MB (683,229,184 bytes)



San Andreas V2.0-

Game save folder # = 545400a3
gta3.img stock file size = 650 MB (682,070,016 bytes)

i heard that there are 3 versions v1.0 v1.01 and v2.0

I've heard of the platinum edition which is essentially the same as 2.0 but I haven't heard about the 1.01

If you have any info (or access to the game itself) let me know and I can run some tests to see the differences

1.01 rings a bell, I "think" we had it in the UK instead of 2.0, its essentially 1.0 but without HotCoffee, but dont hold me on that

huh? Theres no text saying it's vers. 1.0 or 2.0 on my disc xD

But it's 1.0 cause I can mod IT =D

officially 1.0 and 2.0 numbers are meaningless.


actually I made them up while I was making the patches to make the 2.0 moddable. It was a quick thing to made to make sure I didn't loss my mind getting confused.


On the 2.0 you can find the text "Second Edition" on the disk and box cover. the 1.0 shouldn't have anything.

Also the gta3.img file sizes are different. I believe this is because they literally removed all traces of the hot coffee mod before locking it down as a "just in case" thing...
